Root Canal Toxicity

Root canal toxicity isn’t new information, I just hadn’t read enough to consider its validity. As long as you’re well, you don’t have to.

My root canal teeth weren’t always a last resort, they happened here and there on my dentist’s well-meaning advice….like avoiding a future struggle to remove a crown without breaking it, if there was a problem. It’s their training.

The Mayo Clinic and Dr. Weston Price both published articles about the toxicity of root canals around 1910. It was the Dr. Price info that finally swayed me to remove all root-canal, pristine-looking teeth, after 7 years or so of ill health… with little improvement.

It’s been told that Dr. Price offered to pay any dentist $10,000 if they sent him an extracted root canal tooth that showed no disease, and that he never had to pay the money out. That was in the 1950’s when $10,000 meant a lot more than it does today.

The Dental Association still endorses root canals, encourages them, just like they did for decades with high-percentage mercury-silver fillings. The same mercury that is removed today as hazardous toxic waste.

head painWith each root canal tooth I had extracted, severe head pain and infection followed, surprising even the dental surgeon. Drugs were a blessing.

Despite years of resisting the seemingly drastic choice to remove all root canals, my health level gradually improved after they were gone. That’s not a unique story.

Fungus is increasingly indicated as another part of the health equation, undermining it slowly until our immune system is weakened into disease. Fed by overuse of antibiotics, forgetting the need to repopulate GI flora with acidophilus, and enjoying too much sugar-laced food …few don’t have some level of fungal overgrowth, seen or unseen.

Disease, including cancer, has been linked to systemic fungus infection by a number of doctors worldwide for some years. Research is primarily done on diseased cases, but there are doctors who believe a milder fungal infection is what sets the base for a diseased state.

In addition to the antibiotic and sugar connections, some link mycotoxins in grains and today’s storage method as a fungus contributor. The easy precaution for grains is a few drops of either hydrogen peroxide or 2 drops of iodine in the soaking water prior to eating them.

Science is trying to catch up with the fungus issue, similar to 100 years ago when they wondered if germs really existed, scoffing at the idea of wearing surgery gloves.

Following my article on dental health, the root canal is a controversy to research that may help in making a more careful decision than some of us have made. Clear as it may be, hindsight is a bummer!
