NATURAL THERAPIES
Virginia Hanspiker, RMT, RPP
Experiencing bodywork therapies is a rejuvenating experience and regularity of treatments adds to a healthy lifestyle. As I’m currently on an extended travel journey, I’ve included therapist referrals on my home website page, therapists who are part of my own self-care routine. You’ll enjoy being on their therapy table! My only contact at this time is by email: [email protected]
Body therapies I work with that have been beneficial in maintaining my own wellbeing include:
MASSAGE THERAPY - Proven effectiveness of therapeutic massage for release of stress, chronic pain or to accelerate healing of injury and other conditions, finds medical Swedish massage in high demand today. Techniques, depth and time should always be adjusted for age, health and preference. Registered massage therapists are highly trained in Canada’s full-time 2-year program to work with the body’s soft tissues, influencing both structure and wellbeing. By softening muscular tissue, the strain on bone is released, easing skeletal conditions like scoliosis and osteoarthritis. Massage therapy influences all systems by affecting our circulatory and nervous systems for overall body-mind improvement. My ‘frequently asked questions’ may answer inquiries for those who are unfamiliar with therapeutic massage.
POLARITY THERAPY - This therapy addresses the physical body and its energy fields, chakras and patterns, integrating them to an optimal balance. Polarity therapy is done over your clothing, with depth of touch varying from slightly deeper work to soften tissue, to light touch energy balances. The results can be remarkable for deep relaxation and fresh insight.
INTEGRATED THERAPIES - draws on a combination of natural therapies that may include some massage therapy and reflexology or massage with Reiki techniques. The goal is to use whatever combo will best realize your intent
AROMATHERAPY - combines massage with the power of essential oils. As the essence of flowers, herbs or trees, these therapeutic additions can enhance the session and the outcome of your experience.
REIKI - this hands-on energy therapy targets improved balance for our body-mind-spirt composite. It assists all systems for improved function and rejuvenation. Reiki is often combined with a massage or aromatherapy session.
REFLEXOLOGY both feet and hands are often included in a reflexology session, but it primarily works with our feet which are gateways to our entire system…. physically and energetically. This safe and effective therapy is suitable for all ages and helps to normalize body function, leaving you rejuvenated and feeling lighter. Due to its systemic effect, it also benefits various conditions, especially fibromyalgia. Reflexology can be the ideal therapy for those who are not comfortable with massage.
.
CRANIOSACRAL - as a light-touch therapy that reads the rhythm of a fluid system in the cranium and spinal cord, craniosacral therapy (CST) is highly relaxing and effective for headaches, chronic pain, post-accident trauma or for a deeply mellow state. This therapy assists the body to re-balance its functional patterns. Craniosacral therapy has at times been very beneficial for injury cases that are difficult to resolve with physical therapy alone.
LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE MASSAGE - this gentle therapy targets increased function of our lymphatic system that may be sluggish or challenged from waste buildup. It also enhances parasympathetic nervous function to promote a relaxed state.
