. . . based on aloe, bee pollen or bee propolis
Attention to a healthy diet to nourish our skin can be the most natural way for clear, radiant skin. As much as aloe vera is food for healthy skin and many other body systems, topical application can be the turning point for many skin conditions. We can easily forget our skin is actually the largest organ of our body and that it’s classed, along with the lungs, as a secondary organ of elimination. This can mean it sometimes needs a little extra care.
While we realize it’s best to take care of our skin before it shows signs of stress, most of us only consider it when it’s showing signs of ‘wear and tear’. With the many actions of aloe vera including anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and antibacterial benefits, taking aloe internally helps clear our metabolism from the inside out ~ the best way to resolve a problem! The next step to help our skin is with topical applications. The Forever Living product line now has a wide choice of personal care and skin products based on their pure aloe or an aloe-propolis combination called Propolis Creme. These topicals make a difference quickly when our skin is struggling for its usual glow.
All the Forever Living skin products have aloe vera as their first ingredient, indicating the largest content is aloe. Some of their skin products are also enhanced with specific herbs, oils and additional moisturizers to further protect, promote and retain radiant skin health. As an introduction to this extensive line, a few of my favourites are below.
In the ‘Skin Care’ menu ~ extra benefit for rashes or conditions like psoriasis and eczema is available through use of Aloe Gelly, a thicker application for skin but well-absorbed quickly and without scent. Those experiencing chronic, hard-to-clear rashes have found the Aloe-Propolis skin cream particularly effective due to combined antimicrobial properties of bee propolis with the purifying and healing benefits of aloe vera.
Another personal favourite is Forever Living’s Signature cream, labelled as Aloe Lotion. It contains Jojoba, valued for helping to balance sebum production. This cream is extremely soothing and moisturizing for dry skin. It’s enhanced with Vitamin E, Collagen and Elastin to further soften and protect skin. Many find it very effective for red hands, rough heels and even pregnant tummies! Men who hesitate to use hand cream are partial to this choice because of its fast absorption, low fragrance and noticeably fast results.
‘Aloe First‘ clear liquid spray can be likened to a first aid combo with its aloe-propolis combination and an additional 11 powerful herbs that include Calendula, Yarrow, Thyme, Dandelion, Eucalyptus, Sage and Ginger. It provides a healthy application, whether used on your scalp, skin challenges or for insect bites and scratches. I used this to clear my cat’s dandruff, although a pet version called Aloe Veterinary is available.
From the Personal Care menu, the aloe liquid “Hand and Face Soap” still ranks as a favourite by many. This tearless soap moisturizes while gently cleansing. It leaves no soap residual for that squeaky feeling that actually indicates a soap film is left on your skin. Without that film, your natural body oils rise to the skin’s surface, leaving a smooth, soft feeling. For the healthiest scalp and hair, you could try the pH balanced Aloe Jojoba Shampoo and Aloe Jojoba Conditioner, found in the same Personal care Section. Both are enhanced with jojoba oil to moisturize and aid in removal of dandruff or itching. A little goes a long way! Aloe Styling Hair Gel can complete your hair grooming without leaving a stiff residual.
Once in the Skin Care, Personal Care or Sonya cosmetic options, you will find a wide variety of products that are all based on pure aloe vera. Those with skin challenges will be particularly interested in the cosmetic line. Aloe-based products are often one of the few cosmetic lines that acne and similar skin conditions do not find irritating, and they can actually be very helpful due to the antimicrobial properties of aloe, plus it’s ability to moisturize. If it works on burns, it can surely benefit most skin – with or without conditions.
Only in trying some of these products, will you know the healthful benefits of choosing aloe vera as part of your lifestyle.
