Integrated Therapies
Bernie Sigel, M.D. and author, commented that ‘our experiences are stored in our tissues’. We may agree, but not completely relate to its validity until a sparky discussion results in a headache or indigestion. In acknowledging the influence of emotions, it makes sense that hands-on therapy may assist to release stored experiences by softening the tissue they are stored in.
Integrated Therapy can be the catalyst that accelerates easier access to a healthier functioning state. It differs from massage through less direct skin contact. Clothing remains on, although body techniques may still be applied to loosen tension.
Integrated therapy draws on components from any therapies studied that are appropriate to your goals. It may combine techniques from Swedish massage therapy with acupressure points, myofascial release or breathwork, reflexology, tissue unwinding to dissolve stored patterns, polarization for balance of subtle systems or perhaps include balance of craniosacral rhythms.
This work may be more lasting as it can access patterns underlying chronic discomfort. Suggestions for home-care often help to reinforce new habits for optimum progress.
The ancient Druids held the interesting philosophy that from the point of greatest imbalance, comes the point of greatest stability. It’s in the concept of attaining balance, that Integrated Therapy can sometimes encourage us to make changes in our perspective and lifestyle more easily.
